CRYSTIC U 952 TPA is an unsaturated, pre-accelerated, and thixotropic polyester resin, formulated from a blend of different batches of conventional or low-styrene resins. This resin includes variants of orthophthalic, isophthalic, and NPG-isophthalic resins. CRYSTIC U 952 TPA is used in common applications where mechanical strength or chemical inertia are not essential criteria.
Pre-use Recommendations: CRYSTIC U 952 TPA resin should be conditioned to a minimum temperature of 15°C before application, especially if polymerization is performed at room temperature. It is essential to allow the resin to reach room temperature before processing.
Formulation: For effective polymerization at room temperature, the following formulation is recommended as a starting point:
Gel Time: The gel time of the resin is controlled by the ambient temperature and the amount and type of catalyst used. At 25°C, with 2% Catalyst M, the estimated gel time is 20 minutes for 100 g of resin.
Additives: The behavior of the resin can be affected by the addition of certain pigments or additives, so it is recommended to evaluate their effects before application.
The resin should be stored in suitable containers and kept away from flames and heat sources. It should be protected from light and water to ensure stability during storage.
- Storage Temperature: Store in a cool, dry place, preferably at 20°C.
- Shelf Life: The resin has a shelf life of approximately 2 months when stored at 20°C and protected from light.
It is crucial to follow strict safety measures, such as proper storage, efficient stock rotation, and adequate ventilation in work areas. The use of masks is recommended if working in confined spaces or in the presence of high vapor concentrations.
