Crystic PD9551 Low Profile Unsaturated Polyester Resin for RTM & Infusion

CRYSTIC PD 9551 is a low profile polyester resin, designed for use in RTM. It is a mixture of an unsaturated polyester resin and a low profile additive, which phase separate during the curing reaction. The dissimilar thermal expansion/contraction rates of the two components produce micro voids, which compensate for the bulk shrinkage of the unsaturated polyester resin.  

Applications

CRYSTIC PD 9551 was developed primarily for use in RTM processes, but its properties make it equally suitable for use in hot press moulding applications or pultrusion.  CRYSTIC PD 9551 is recommended for the manufacture of mouldings for land transport, and industrial applications. 

It is suitable for the production of tools with excelent surface finish withe glass fibre. It has been recently used with success for the manufacturing of composite tools made of carbon fibre. These tools can also be used for prepregs processes. In house trials must be carried out in this particular case. Please, ask for advice to our technical team.

The reduced shrinkage characteristics of CRYSTIC PD 9551 enable the manufacture of components with a high quality surface finish and good dimensional stability. 

Get time of 40 minutes at 23ºC with 2.5% of accelerator NL-49P (1% cobalt solution) and 2.5% of LuperoxK1S (MEKP catalyst).

Deflection temperature under load† (1.80MPa) for the unfilled resin: 94ºC
