UP571 is a blend of specially formulated high temperature polyester resins, light beige color pigments and additives designed to produce high gloss mold surfaces.
DESCRIPTION
UP571 is a blend of specially formulated high temperature polyester resins, light beige color pigments and additives designed to produce high gloss mold surfaces. UP571 allows rapid gelcoat build-up for hard, durable, impact and chemical resistant mold surfaces. Reinforcement laminate can be applied after a firm gelcoat film is obtained. This normally takes around 75-115 minutes after application. It is most commonly used in high temperature molds for epoxy infusion, artificial marble or solid surface molds, thermoforming molds, FRP (composite) molds, and RTM mold repair. Contains no styrene and is low odor.
Properties
High service temperature: 204 ºC
does not contain styrene
High chemical resistance
High impact resistance
Excellent surface finish and easy to repair
Compatible with epoxy resins
It can be used as a topcoat on non-post-coated epoxy molds or pieces.
Shelf life at 25°C (102g): 22 min
APPLICATION CONDITIONS
Thoroughly mix 100 parts gelcoat with 2 parts catalyst in a clean, dry container. Carefully scrape surfaces while mixing to ensure thorough and even mixing.
UP571 can be colored to match desired mold color.
ONLY polyester-based color pastes are compatible. Adding 1% (by weight) of color paste gives a pure color. We have obtained good results with percentages between 2-3% in many colors. Use only the pastes or pigments available in our online store.

SURFACE PREPARATION AND APPLICATION
UP571 should always be applied to properly prepared surfaces with a suitable release system applied to the surfaces.
The product is designed to be applied by brush or spray (it has been successfully applied with an ES Manufacturing G860 HVLP spray gun at 3/4 bar pressure and with a 2.5mm nozzle.
For best performance, UP571 should be sprayed in multiple passes at 0.07 – 0.15mm thickness to achieve a 0.6mm final film. Wait 2–3 minutes between passes. This technique minimizes air entrapment and the appearance of micropores in the gelcoat layer.
Wait at least 90 minutes before starting the lamination. The tests have been carried out giving good adhesion after 36 hours at 20 °C.
