Crestapol® 1261 is a high performance l ow viscosity urethane acrylate type resin to work with Carbon Fibre, Glass or any other reinforcement types, suitable for infusion, RTM and similar processes at room temperature.
Crestapol® 1261 produces laminates with high strength and toughness with exceptional water and hydrolysis resistance.

Crestapol® 1261 is a high performance low viscosity urethane acrylate type resin to work with Carbon Fibre, Glass or any other reinforcement types, suitable for infusion, RTM and similar processes at room temperature.
Crestapol® 1261 produces laminates with high strength and toughness with exceptional water and hydrolysis resistance.
Formulation
Crestapol 1261 should be allowed to attain workshop temperature before use. For curing at room temperature Crestapol 1261 requires the addition of a catalyst and an accelerator.
N.B. Catalysts and accelerators should not be mixed directly together, since they react with explosive violence.
The recommended catalyst for curing at room temperature is Cumene peroxide, which should be added at 2% into the resin and thoroughly dispersed. The recommended accelerator is Accelerator G1, which should be added at 2% into the resin and thoroughly dispersed.
Post Curing
Satisfactory laminates for many applications can be made using Crestapol 1261 by curing at workshop temperature.
However, in common with all thermosetting polymers, optimum performance can only be achieved with a high temperature post cure. The typical cure time can be found inside our Crestapol® Information Guide.
Physical Data – Uncured
The following tables give typical properties of Crestapol 1261 when tested in accordance with BS2782.
The gel time fr this resin at room temperature of 20 ºC is 40-50 min at 25°C with 2% Accelerator G and 2% of catalyst Cumene peroxide. Accelerator G is a 1% solution of cobalt in styrene.

Storage
Crestapol 1261 should be stored in the dark in the original container. It is recommended that the storage temperature should be less than 20°C, but should not exceed 30°C. Containers should be stored out of direct sunlight and away from other external sources of heat. Ideally, containers should be opened immediately prior to use.
The 1kg and 5k cans are supplied accelerated. If the customer wishes, the 25kg drums can be supplied without accelerating.
